Kathleen Troy launched into the beauty industry quite by accident- while cutting hair for fellow students in her dormitory amidst pursuing an engineering degree. Soon it became evident that her talent was for cuticle- not calculus! After some soul searching, she enrolled in a local cosmetology school-much to her family’s chagrin.
Kathleen escaped to Manhattan as soon as possible, to further study proper technique and decorum. An apprenticeship at the prestigious, celebrity laden Suga Salon @ 57th st. and Park Ave. proved to be a golden opportunity. Surrounded by acclaimed NY stylists and taken under the wing of 3 top-tier colorists, she found her niche. By scrutinizing techniques, assisting at fashion shows, and absorbing stylist/client relations, she honed the multi-faceted skills of a classically trained color specialist. Soon Kathleen built a loyal following of the upper east side elite and their debutante daughters.
Her reputation grew as she was entrusted with Victoria Secret models, featured in Harper’s Bazaar, and pursued by socialites for her nuanced technique. Each salon experience allowed her to witness lessons in business acumen, and to build her repertoire with new ideas from the top- rated salon professionals to whom she was exposed.
With two daughters to rear, Kathleen moved to Westchester and word quickly spread. Lauded for her creative flair- “classic with a twist “, illustrious women traveled from all corners of Westchester, western Connecticut and NYC. Predominantly stationed at Paulo’s Atelier in Bedford Hills, NY Kathleen preserves her Manhattan clientele by commuting weekly to Madison Ave. She has been recognized for her years of devotion to her clients and craft by Westchester Magazine “Best of Westchester 2008” Editor’s pick- Best Colorist. She continues to work her magic on her fiercely loyal and sophisticated clientele, while eagerly welcoming a vast array of new clients.
